On behalf of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, I am thrilled to endorse the nomination of Olympian Suzy Chaffee (Ski Racing, 1968) for the “IOC Climate Action Award.”

In her submission, Suzy narrates her efforts restoring snow at past and future Winter Olympics through SNOWDANCES – inspired by witnessing four snow and rain miracles after teaching Rollingbears (Lakota) to ski with a comp ticket from CO’s Telluride SkiCo in 1995.  After saving the town from a Snowless Christmas, his Kansas raindance in 1996 saved many farms. Realizing tribes are key to future generations skiing, her fellow Olympians voted funding her now Native Amer-ican Climate Action Foundation with the Utes. Since 1996 she has enlightened/assisted ski areas in U.S. and Canada to host 20,000 Native Youth, which prevents suicides and addictions most, why Elders lead snowdances that have ended droughts and wildfires for eons. Disney pioneered them at Tahoe’s 1960 Olympics to save them with 11 ft. (TIME cover)

Suzy has documented 50 Snowdance Miracles in Press – 45 she orchestrated, including restoring snow for Utah’s 2002 Olympics, mid ceremony, then Vancouver 2010.  That’s why Stanford’s Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Stephen Schneider Praised Tribal Snow … dances, and with the UN urged World ski areas to host Native youth and Snowdances.  He said “it’d be fool-ish to ignore what costs almost nothing.” Yet COVID dried up most when URGENTLY needed to protect us all from more fires, and LA 2028 and Utah 2034. “In 2011, NM and AZ tribes inspired rains & winds that stopped the SW Wildfire across the street from Los Alamos’ Nuclear Lab.” So scientists asked Suzy to host a Ski Celebration and Gratitude Snowdance.

Suzy is in 4 Hall of Fames for also leading the Olympic Rule Reform that leveled the playing fields with the Soviet Block. As “America’s Hope for a Gold in 68,” her poor team missed the wax, yet its silver suit gave her headlines & power.  She found at Olympia the Ancient Rules were not Amateur but “open to the best, honest and shared its bounty.” As 1st wo-man on USOC’s board she united World Olympians and got the IOC to restore fairness, glory and joy to the Modern in 76, via Madison Ave. She’s the “only Olympian Brundage tried to take medals away who didn’t have any.” (Trivial Pursuit)

As a Pioneer of Ski Ballet Suzy tied the men and introduced Freestyle on Johnny Carson’s Show in 71; raised $3 million to start a women’s division; was 3X World Freestyle Champion; and starred in Bogner’s global hit “Fire and Ice.”  She introduced the Amateur Sports Act that gave Athletes Rights and Voice thru also skiing with President Ford.  His ad man, im-pressed by her giving back, dreamt “Suzy Chapstick,” the “1st women sports commercial,” with fun skiing.” It helped fund her leading Title IX’s March & WH meeting in 77.  Shockingly, author-Senator Birch Bayh said, “To get it enforced ski with Senate Health Chair Ted Kennedy. On Aspen’s chairlift he agreed “Right to Sport is Right to Health.” So did G. Bush Sr on his (+3) Presidents Fitness Councils.  Title IX Key to Sustainability of Snow and Cities.  All this launched our Fun Fitness Revolution.

As a journalist, Suzy has educated the public via USA Today, her “I Love NY Fitness Book,” www.Native-ClimateAction.org…  Also as an activist, NY Mag, Daily Shows, 50 million on BBC Radio, 2 million on GOP Podcasts.  And on Pope Francis’ Apology Tour to Canada’s First Nations (CNN), convinced him to join Mother Earth-healing ceremonies, a 1^st in 2,000 years.

Suzy’s Plan is FREE by enforcing ERA, as its “equal pay can boost the U.S. $4.3 Trillion, McKinsey: Women Equality to Boost World GDP” by $28 Trillion”-TIME. (McK proved “Title IX’s Equal Sports & (job) Education Ops added 30% to our workforce and GDP $3 TR.”) So it can fund a Renewable-powered U.S. and World, like equal Norway.  We’re 24%, why “most fires.”
